established in 1975, st. robert chs was the first high school in the york catholic district school board.

the school was built on top of the original site of the st. robert elementary school, which was founded in 1967.

in the 70s, the school enrolled about 400 students, focusing on delivering a faith-based secondary education to markham-thornhill.

in 1981, students from st. robert chs, under the alias "The Local Orange Players," produced an album titled "Jesus Christ Superstar - A Modern Miracle" with executive producer Bob Ezrin. the double vinyl LP captured the electrifying energy & passion of the student body.

in 2002, the international baccalaureate diploma programme was introduced.

in 2010, an artificial turf soccer field with a seasonal dome was completed in partnership with the city of markham, allowing for year-round use.

as one of the leading and most diverse student bodies in ontario, st. robert continues to strive for academic excellence and an exuberant school spirit today.
